DIY Garage Terms of Service

DIY Auto Labs, or Auto Repair Shop here and below, provides auto repair advisory and educational services, Do-It-Yourself (DIY) auto repair resources in the San Jose and SF Bay Area. Our DIY Auto Services encompass on-site instruction, access to auto repair tools, car lifts, and more. The following DIY Auto Services Terms and Conditions apply:

  • Service Rights: Auto Repair Shop reserves the right to refuse service to any individual at its sole discretion.
  • Booking Policy: While we strive to maintain our booking schedule as acurate as possible reservations and bookings do not guarantee a specific time slot, bay, or workstation. All planned work on your vehicle must be discussed and agreed upon with an Auto Repair Shop mechanic before commencement.
  • Refund Policy: If Auto Repair Shop is unable to provide the agreed service or tool availability at the designated time, all fees and deposits will be refunded in full. Please allow 2-4 weeks for refunds for payments made by check or cash. Should you cancel your reservation 7 or more business days prior to the first day of the scheduled service, you will receive a 100% refund. Deposit refunds are not available for cancellations made less than 7 business days before the service start time.
  • Appointment Policy: Auto Repair Shop reserves the right to alter appointment times, dates, and bays without prior notice. Deposits paid will be applied to the final invoice at Auto Repair Shop for the scheduled appointment. Your appointment duration is defined by booked service type but can't span beyond the Auto Repair Shop normal hours of operation.
  • Cancellation Policy: Deposits are forfeit if appointments are cancelled or unattended. Rescheduling is permitted given 24 hours prior notice.
  • Warranties and Guarantees: Auto Repair Shop does not provide any warranties, either express or implied, and offers no guarantees for any services booked.
  • Eligibility: You must be 18 years or older to book an appointment. Anyone entering the garage area, including accompanying individuals, must complete a liability waiver. Minors must have an additional parental consent signed.
  • Vehicle Ownership: Proof of ownership may be required for the vehicle being serviced.
  • Safety Regulations: Closed-toe footwear must be worn in the garage at all times.
  • Billing Policy: For longer term projects extending beyond one week, interim payments towards the final invoice may be required at the end of each week.
  • There is a zero tolerance policy for alcohol or marijuana use while using the shop. Contained food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed. If you are drinking alcohol anywhere on the premises you will be asked to pack up and leave, it may also result in service cancelation, no refund will be available in this case.
  • Compliance: Failure to comply with these terms will result in forfeiture of your deposit and appointment.
  • Changes to Terms: Auto Repair Shop reserves the right to modify these terms at any time without notice.

Gift Certificates and Member Passes

This section outlines the terms and conditions specific to Gift Certificates and Member Passes at DIY Auto Labs. If you have any further questions not covered here, please do not hesitate to contact us. 

Gift Certificates

  • Validity Period: This certificate is valid for one year from the date of issuance, until stated differently on the certificate.

  • Redemption: The Gift Certificate can be redeemed once. The Gift Certificate can be redeemed only for DIY services and events at Auto Repair Shop associated with the certificate and at the time and days mentioned in the Gift Certificate description. Exact dates of services are not guaranteed and are subject to availability (please refer to our online calendar).

  • Reservation: To redeem the Gift Certificate, you must reserve your DIY Auto Repair appointment online at Auto Repair Shop website and present the copy of the Gift Certificate at check-in time. Please note that we do not accept walk-in service as of September 2023.
  • Non-Transferable: Gift certificates cannot be transferred to a different person. However, if you wish to give it to someone else, we are happy to issue a new certificate for the new recipient at no extra cost to you. Get in touch with our customer service.

  • Non Refundable: The Gift Certificate cannot be returnd or exchange for cash or credit.

  • We aim to provide the best customer experience, in rare cases, if Auto Repair Shop unable to provide the agreed services declared by the Gift Certificate, we will refund the cost of the Gift Certificate in full. The refund will be provided in accordance with the general “Refund Policy” outlined I the above section.
  • Lost or Stolen: We are not liable for any certificates that are lost, stolen, destroyed, or used without permission.

  • No cashback will be given if the total price of DIY services provided is less than the value of the Gift Certificate.

  • Cancelation: Auto Repair Shop reserves the right to cancel this certificate:

    • if necessary due to circumstances beyond our control;

    • if the Gift Certificate obtained fraudulently;

    • for any misuse or violation of terms.

Club Passes

  • Access and Flexibility: The DIY Auto Club Passes provide you with access to DIY services at discounted rates and offer flexibility with spending pre-loaded work hours at our Auto Repair Shop.

  • Redemption: Club Pass hours can be redeemed for DIY rental services mentioned in the Club Pass description only. Redemption is only applicable during the specified days and times as mentioned in the Club Pass description. Exact service dates are not guaranteed and are subject to availability and can be found on our online calendar.
  • Reservation: To redeem the hours of DIY Auto Club Passes, you must reserve your DIY Auto Repair appointment online at Auto Repair Shop website online calendar and present the copy of the Club Pass or Club Pass ID number at check-in time. Please note that we do not accept walk-in service as of September 2023.
  • Usage Limits: Pass holders can redeem a minimum of 4 hours (equivalent to half-day rental) per single appointment, up to the maximum allowed by the remainder balance. For example, a Two Days Pro Pass allows you to book four half-day appointments on four different dates within one calendar year.
  • Payment and Top-Up: To redeem hours for DIY services, the remaining balance in the pass must meet or exceed the required number of hours included into selected DIY Auto Service. Combined payments are not accepted as of September 2023. If the Pass balance is insufficient, the Pass holder can top up the Pass by purchasing additional hours from our DIY Club member’s store.
  • Hour Validity: Loaded hours are valid for one calendar year from the purchase date or last reload date.
  • Non-Transferable: Club Passes are not transferable to a different person. You can purchase a pass for yourself or as a gift for someone else, but you must provide the recipient's name at the time of purchase.

  • Cancelation: Auto Repair Shop reserves the right to cancel any Membership or Club Pass:

    • if necessary due to circumstances beyond our control;

    • if a Club Pass obtained fraudulently;

    • for any misuse or violation of terms.

 

Club Passes Refund Policy

  • We offer a full refund for the balance of hours loaded into a pass if the pass has not been used yet within 30 days from purchase. For passes that have been redeemed towards DIY services at least once, or it was purchased more than 30 days ago, we provide a refund of up to 50% of the remainder hours balance. The refund will be provided in accordance with the general “Refund Policy” outlined I the above section.

  • Club Membership fee is not refundable.
