It’s hard to believe, but DIY Auto Labs has just turned one year old! 🎉 Reflecting on the journey from where we started to where we are now, it’s truly remarkable to see how far we’ve come in such a short time. The trust you’ve placed in us, the incredible projects we’ve worked on, and the growth we’ve experienced have all been nothing short of amazing.
So, how did it all begin? Here’s a little backstory!
DIY Auto Labs emerged on the top of our parent company, SF Auto Labs, which mission is to give salvage cars a second chance, changing the narrative that salvage cars are just “junk.” While that business continues to grow and attract more customers, an exciting new idea emerged. We saw an opportunity to create a space for car enthusiasts who have the passion but lack the tools, space, or know-how to work on their own vehicles. This idea was inspired by the closure of a local “DIY or DIE” shop just before our opening.
On June 30, 2023, we welcomed our very first customer. That day was a milestone for us, setting the stage for everything that followed. From figuring out our routines to ensuring every project was completed safely and efficiently, that first day was a learning experience that shaped our future.
In the beginning, the flow of customers was slow—just one or two visitors every other day. But fast forward to today, and we’re seeing people signing up weeks, if not months, in advance to be a part of the DIY Auto Labs experience!
Over the past year, we’ve seen it all: from simple car inspections to complex engine rebuilds. For last 12 month our customers have saved more then $300,000 in cash that might have otherwise gone to high-priced dealerships or local mechanics. And as we’ve grown, we’ve reinvested in our facilities to enhance your experience. What started as a shared space with communal tools has evolved into dedicated workstations, each equipped with its own set of tools and workspace.
It’s been a fantastic first year, and we’re incredibly grateful for your support and enthusiasm. We’re excited for what the future holds and look forward to welcoming more new faces, tackling new projects, and forging new connections.
